MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) — A fire has suspended operations at a Detroit-area plant that roasts and packages nuts and trail mixes.
WXYZ-TV and WWJ-AM report workers at the Kar's Nuts plant in Madison Heights were evacuated Thursday evening after a fire broke out in a room where products are washed. No injuries were reported.
Fire officials say one room has significant fire damage, and the entire building has smoke damage.
Several fire departments assisted in extinguishing the blaze. The cause hasn't been reported.
The company, founded in 1933, distributes its products nationally.
