GRETNA, La. (AP) — Zatarain's is voluntarily recalling its 8 ounce boxes of Red Beans and Rice Original because the product may contain undeclared dairy ingredients that could prompt serious or life threatening allergic reactions.
In a news release, the Gretna, Louisiana-based company said the product, with a "best by" date of July 31 16Z, may contain Creamy Parmesan Rice Mix with dairy ingredients. The dairy allergens are not listed.
The mislabeled product has not resulted in any illnesses or allergic reactions being reported to the company.
The product was shipped to Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
Consumers are urged to dispose of the product and to phone Zatarain's at 877-837-3796 for a replacement or refund.
