ANDERSON, S.C. — An ammonia spill at a manufacturing plant in upstate South Carolina forced the evacuation of several hundred workers as emergency crews responded to the scene.
Local media outlets report the spill happened at the Robert Bosch plant near Anderson about 10 a.m. on Friday. About 250 workers in one of the buildings were evacuated for about 45 minutes. There were no injuries.
Officials said that the plant was evacuated after a worker noticed a crack in an ammonia container.
Ammonia is used in a plating operation at the facility that employs about 1,200 workers in all.
