WATERFORD, Pa. (AP) — An Ohio snack food company has agreed to a deal that includes majority ownership of a potato chip plant in northwestern Pennsylvania.
The Erie Times-News reports that Minnesota-based KLN is selling its Barrel O'Fun subsidiary and three snack food plants to Shearer's Snacks. The sale includes the plant in Waterford.
The plant is newly upgraded with more than $25 million in new equipment and other improvements.
General Manager Brian Garlick says the plant currently has 188 workers but could employ more than 200 by the end of the year. He says the sale could hasten the plant's growth.
The purchase price has not been disclosed.
