DE Steel Mill Works On Dust Emissions

Delaware environmental officials have issued a permit to a New Castle County steel mill for installation of pollution control equipment to collect dust and reduce other air emissions.

CLAYMONT, Del. (AP) — Delaware environmental officials have issued a permit to a New Castle County steel mill for installation of pollution control equipment to collect dust and reduce other air emissions.

Officials say the permit issued to Evraz Claymont Steel builds on an earlier consent decree between Evraz and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

The consent decree signed in 2010 required Evraz to invest in equipment and operational changes to make the plant and surrounding area cleaner.

The new DNREC permit for Evraz requires additional dust control capacity that will almost double the plant's particulate collection and filter system by August 2013.

Evraz Claymont Steel manufactures and sells custom-order steel plates and recycles scrap metal from consumer and industrial sources.
