Recall Roundup: Pork and Sausage Products, Poultry Products, Salads and More

Here's a look at some recent recalls involving the food industry.

A couple of food-related recalls have already been covered on the Food Manufacturing website this week — Whole Foods announced it was recalling mislabeled salad, while Back to Nature announced it was recalling some cookies because they may contain undeclared milk.

In the meantime, there have been some other recalls involving the food industry in recent days. Here's a quick recap:

According to a news release published to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service website on Tuesday, Mountain Products Inc. cited misbranding and undeclared allergens as the reason behind the recall of 467 pounds of bacon and pork sausage products.

The USDA FSIS news release states:

The company produced the pork products formulated with breadcrumbs containing milk, soy and wheat, known allergens which were not sub-listed on the finished product labels.

Texas-based Perfect Fit Meals, LLC on Thursday announced it was recalling more than 10,000 pounds of poultry products because of misbranding and undeclared allergens, according to a news release published to the USDA FSIS website.

According to the news release:

The products are mislabeled and one of the products, the Turkey Enchilada, may contain milk, a known allergen which is not declared on the mislabeled product label.

In a news release published to the FDA website on April 10, Reser's Fine Foods, Inc. announced it was recalling refrigerated salads that were distributed to a number of states after one of the company's ingredient suppliers notified them that listeria may be present in a lot of onions used in the salads.

According to the FDA news release:

The recalled refrigerated salads were distributed to retailers and distribution centers in the following states: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NE, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX, UT, WA, WY, and British Columbia.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

New York-based Country Favor Inc. recently announced it was recalling packaged of "Best Taste Keo Me Den Candy" products due to undeclared peanuts, according to a news release published to the FDA website.

According to the news release:

The recalled "Best Taste Keo Me Den Candy" was distributed nationwide in retail stores. The product comes in a 120g clear and green plastic bag with an expiration date of 2017-12 stamped at the bottom.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

According to a news release published to the FDA website on Thursday, Sugarfina LLC announced it was recalling Sugarfina Milk Chocolate Malt Balls due to the possibility the product may contain undeclared peanuts.

According to the FDA news release:

The Sugarfina Milk Chocolate Malt Balls were distributed nationwide through internet and retail sales. The product was sold in AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, LA, MA, MD, MO, MT, NJ, NY, OH, SC, TX, VA, VT, WA, and WI between 2/18/16 and 4/9/16.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that some Sugarfina Peanut Butter Malt Balls had been mixed in with a batch of Sugarfina Milk Chocolate Malt Balls.
