Larson Electronics (Kemp, Texas) has announced the release of the EXP-EMG-EXT-12W-1LX Explosion Proof Emergency Exit Sign, which has been designed to provide continued operation in the event of unexpected power failures. The exit sign complies with all safety and hazardous location regulations for emergency, explosion-proof lighting, and will run for 90 minutes when its main power source is unexpectedly shut down. Additional features include:

  • A high-performance Nickel-Cadmium battery pack with a 7-10 year operational life and a built-in charging system that maintains the battery at a ready state.
  • A construction of copper-free aluminum to keep weight down and for high durability, and a powder coating to provide better corrosion resistance.
  • A single 10-watt LED lamp with a 50,000-hour operational life that produces more light than a comparable 100-watt incandescent bulb. This construction also runs cooler, and can withstand more extreme temperatures, impacts and vibrations.
  • The ability to run on universal voltages rnaging from 110 to 277 VAC, making it versatile for many locations.
