Ford Mustang Goes Global With First Shipment To China

The Ford Mustang is on its way to China.

DETROIT (AP) — The Ford Mustang is on its way to China.

Ford says its first shipload of around 100 Mustangs has left Portland, Oregon, and is headed to China. Shipments to Europe will begin later this year.

It's the first time in the Mustang's 50-year history that it will be sold overseas. The 2015 Mustang — which is made in Michigan — will be available in more than 100 markets.

Ford says it shipped more than 380,000 U.S.-made vehicles overseas last year. The Explorer SUV and Lincoln MKC are also sold in China.
