ADM Acquires Nut Processing Operation

Archer Daniels Midland this week announced the acquisition of nut and seed processing facilities from California Gold Almonds.

The Modesto operation adds to Chicago-based ADM's processing capacity in California. The plant can perform tasks from processing to packaging and, like ADM facilities in Lodi and Stockton, can process a wide range of tree nuts.

Company officials said the purchase will expands its specialty ingredient division to take advantage of projected growth in global demand for nuts and seeds.

"This acquisition helps ensure that we stay ahead of consumer demand trends, and continue to meet customer needs in a growing market," said Vince Macciocchi, head of the company's WILD flavors and specialty ingredients division.
