Kraft Heinz Cutting 40 'Third-Party' Jobs in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Kraft Heinz Co. is cutting 40 jobs in Pittsburgh, mostly accounts payable and other customer service positions that are being outsourced to an unspecified third party.

Michael Mullen, the company's senior vice president for corporate and government affairs says Kraft Foods Group was already using a business model that outsourced such jobs when it merged with Pittsburgh-based H.J. Heinz Co. last summer.

The new company is continuing that strategy and will cut the Pittsburgh jobs in June.

Mullen says the third-party firm is based in Wilkes-Barre and in the country of India. Company officials haven't identified that firm.

Kraft Heinz is co-headquartered in Chicago and Pittsburgh, where about 800 of the company's 42,000 workers are employed.

Mullen says there are no current plans for additional changes in Pittsburgh.
