Nestlé Shifts 300 Jobs to Ohio

Nestlé last week announced plans to move 300 jobs -- comprised of its U.S. technical, production and supply chain teams -- to its campus near Cleveland.

Nestlé last week announced plans to move 300 jobs — comprised of its U.S. technical, production and supply chain teams — to its campus near Cleveland, Ohio.

The jobs are reportedly part of the Swiss company's decision to shift its U.S. headquarters from California to Virginia.

The current Glendale, Calif., office currently houses about 1,200 employees. Some 750 will head to suburban Washington, D.C., while 300 will go to Solon, Ohio. The remainder are slated to go to a campus in Missouri.

The food giant said that more of its customers live in the eastern U.S. than in western states and added that 75 percent of its U.S. factories — which will be supplied by Solon — are in that region as well.

"The moves announced today are designed to allow us to work even smarter, fueling growth for our bright future, and we’re pleased to continue that growth and investment here in Ohio and in Solon," Nestlé USA Chairman and CEO Paul Grimwood said in a statement.

The Solon complex currently houses Nestlé's frozen and chilled foods business as well as the Nestlé Development Center, Nestlé Professional and Nestlé Business Services.

The facility also manages the Stouffer’s, Lean Cuisine, Buitoni, Hot Pockets, Toll House, Libby’s and Carnation brands along with frozen pizzas DiGiorno, California Pizza Kitchen, Tombstone and Jack’s.
