IBM has been around since 1911, and in that time, they’ve made some pretty fantastic innovations, like the orginal punch card counting machines, digital calculators, or solid-state memory. Bernie Meyerson, VP of innovation at IBM, walks through some of the company’s best products over the years.

One bit of interesting data: When IBM invented the original disk drive in the 1950s, the unit that held about 5 megabytes of data weighed roughly ten tons. Meyerson says that without any of the improvements we’ve seen since then, a modern-day laptop, with all its gigabytes of storage capacity, would weigh some 250,000 tons.
