The SMARTY from Keytroller (Tampa, FL) is a compact digital camera recorder that matches video incidents with GPS location and tracking. The SMARTY begins to record when its 3-axis accelerometer senses an impact, fast acceleration, or quick turn. Video, GPS location, and G-force is kept 15 seconds before and 5 seconds after the event and stored on the unit’s onboard memory. Once the camera is connected to a PC, the events can be opened independently to view video and associated GPS location in Google Maps. The SMARTY increases safety by making drivers more diligent because they are monitored, and also provides visual evidence of an accident.
