ABB Introduces New Power Protection Devices

ABB’s Power Conversion business has introduced the PCS100 UPS-I and PCS100 AVC power protection devices, which are inverter-based systems that protect sensitive industrial loads from voltage sags and other disturbances.

ABB’s Power Conversion business (New Berlin, Wisc.) has introduced the PCS100 UPS-I and PCS100 AVC power protection devices, which are inverter-based systems that protect sensitive industrial loads from voltage sags and other disturbances. The UPS-I was specially designed, according to the company, for semiconductor fabrication and data center applications. Voltage sags and other disturbances account for up to 70 percent of all unscheduled production downtime and often result in expensive damage to equipment such as PLCs, control relays, variable speed drives and robotics.

The ABB AVC and UPS-I products are both battery-free and are focused on ensuring that industrial loads continue to receive a clean, uninterrupted flow of power during major grid disturbances. They are 98 percent efficient, maintenance free, easy to install and have a small footprint. The two products may also be partnered together, which provides both voltage regulation and ride-through storage protection.
