Itβs a chemical you find in most soaps, anti-bacterial products, and even toothpaste: triclosan. While itβs been given a pass by the FDA as safe for humans, some organizations, such as the National Resource Defense Council, think itβs hazardous. Studies on animals have shown a tendency for triclosan to affect thyroid and sex hormones, which can lead to behavioral changes and learning abnormalities. The only way to protect yourself for now? Read the label before buying.
