Marbles might not be as popular as they once used to be, but that doesn't mean many of us don't have fond memories of playing with them as kids. Even though marble production largely occurs outside the U.S. these days, we can still see how the colorful glass spheres are made. Like much of manufacturing, it takes an artistry that not anyone can achieve.
Unfortunately, marble manufacturing in the U.S. is a lost art. Most marble manufacturers have shut down their forges due to lack of demand, except from a select group of high-end collectors. It’s a shame to see such an interesting manufacturing process die out almost entirely.
