It is a compact mill designed to break-down both brittle and soft samples with hardness of 6 to 9 Mohs. Dry ice and liquid nitrogen cool the samples after the milling cycle; the steel chamber withstands temperatures down to -200C.
A variety of blades and beaters can be interchanged, based on sample type. Characteristically hard materials, or those that are brittle from cold temperatures, can be processed for analysis, with adjustable grinding duration and speed. Add water to pulverize moist or gluey materials. Maximum rotation per minute speed is 28,000. Use it for both natural and man-made materials (examples: roots, grains, resins or plastics).
The grinding chamber is double-walled for durability, and removable for simple clean-up. Weight is 3.3 pounds, so use the mill on the benchtop or in the field with electrical power source.
