NEW ORLEANS (AP) — French company Pernod Ricard SA has sold its Frïs Vodka brand to New Orleans-based Sazerac Co.

Pernod Ricard said Friday in a news release that the move is part of its strategy to focus on its flagship liquor and wine brands such as Absolut vodka and Jameson's Irish whiskey.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Sazerac spokeswoman Amy Preske, in an email, declined further comment on the transaction.

According to Pernod Ricard, the Danish brand Frïs sells 250,000 9-liter cases yearly in the United States.

It's the third acquisition by privately-held Sazerac this year. The company bought Paddy Irish Whiskey from Pernod Ricard in May. In March, Sazerac paid $542.4 million to Brown-Forman Corp. for Southern Comfort and Tuaca liqueur.
