COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster is attending a groundbreaking ceremony for a manufacturing plant expected to create 400 jobs in Richland County.

His office says McMaster is in Columbia on Thursday for the groundbreaking of the new Jushi Group Co. plant at Pineview Industrial Park.

Earlier this year, Gov. Nikki Haley said Jushi was expected to invest $300 million in the 80,000-ton production line during the first phase. The plant is the company's first fiberglass manufacturing operation in the U.S.

Company officials have said they expect to complete the facility within two years.

Haley typically attends groundbreaking ceremonies. But McMaster has begun to take on some of her roles as he prepares to become governor if Haley is confirmed as U.N. ambassador.
