FREEPORT, Maine (AP) — A Maine beer company is seeking to expand its facilities in Freeport, saying an expansion is needed to meet the growing demand for its beers.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/2aQoMym ) reports that a plan submitted to the Freeport Planning Department last week shows that Maine Beer Co. wants to add a 20,300-square-foot, two-story building to its existing brewery and tasting room.

The new building would include areas for staff offices, lockers, bathrooms, brewing and bottling. The existing building would be converted into a retail store and expanded beer tasting area.

Town Planner Donna Larson says the plans are conceptual and will be discussed by the project review board before the company submits a project application.

The board is expected to review the plans at its meeting on Aug. 18.
