DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — Maintenance workers at Archer Daniels Midland Co.' BioProducts plant in central Illinois have voted against joining the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union.

The Herald & Review in Decatur reports (http://bit.ly/1MDqqOi) Wednesday's 32-25 vote was the second time the workers have rejected unionization. A similar vote in January 2015 was set aside by an administrative law judge in July who ruled management threatened and harassed workers to dissuade them from union membership.

The union's Local 103G vice president Ric Burcham said he was surprised by the vote result, adding "you win some, you lose some."

ADM spokeswoman Jackie Anderson said the company was pleased it will be able to continue working directly with these employees "without the involvement of a third party."
