STEELTON, Pa. (AP) — A union official and the borough manager of Steelton say ArcelorMittal is trying to sell a steel plant that's operated in this eastern Pennsylvania town since the 1800s.

United Steelworkers local president Ray Napoli tells WNEP-TV (https://bit.ly/1RzwwG4 ) that the plant is for sale. Steelton borough manager Doug Brown says the company told him a few weeks ago, too, that the plant was up for sale.

The company's official statement is that is refuses to comment on "rumors or market speculation."

ISG took over the plant in 2003 and Mittal Steel bought out ISG two years later. The company became ArcelorMittal in 2007.

Brown says the plant is Steelton's largest employer.
