BOSTON (AP) — A hazardous-materials scare that forced the temporary evacuation of residential buildings near Boston's Fenway Park has turned out to be all about fish oil.
The discovery of chemicals in the basement of a convenience store Tuesday prompted a response by firefighters, police officers and terrorism investigators.
A fire department spokesmen said Wednesday the store owner was letting a friend use the space to experiment with making fish oil supplements, touted for their health benefits.
Investigators found four 55-gallon drums containing acid and hydrogen chloride as well as liquid-filled bottles and sacks of yeast.
Authorities say there was no criminal intent although the building didn't have permits for the work and the owner may be cited.
Authorities said there was no threat to Fenway Park, where the Boston Red Sox lost to the Toronto Blue Jays.
