ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal from an energy company to drill an exploratory well south of Rock Springs.

The Azalea Oil Company is proposing to drill an oil and gas well on a single well pad in the North Dutch John Unit. The site is about 17 miles north of Dutch John, Utah, in Sweetwater County.

The company proposes to drill a well nearly 16,000 feet deep. If the well proves economically feasible, operations could continue there for up to 30 years.

Public comment will be accepted until Jan. 3, 2014.
