Tanker Cleaning Company Fined $1.2M

A tanker cleaning company and a manager have paid $1.2 million in fines to settle hazardous waste complaints at a facility in the Houston area.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A tanker cleaning company and a manager have paid $1.2 million in fines to settle hazardous waste complaints at a facility in the Houston area.

Prosecutors in Travis County on Monday announced the fines against Enterprise Logistic Services LLC, doing business as Enterprise Transportation Company, and facility manager John Schultz. The company has a tanker cleaning unit in Freeport.

The charges stemmed from a criminal investigation of failure to use an air pollution control flare as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The company should have used the flare system to control air contaminant emissions prior to cleaning chemicals out of tanker trailers.

Enterprise Logistic Services LLC paid $1 million in fines. Schultz was fined $200,000 and placed on community supervision.
