NILES, Mich. (AP) — A company that makes specialized transport trailers is opening a plant in southwestern Michigan and is expected to create up to 400 jobs by year's end.
Belleair Beach, Fla.-based Pratt Industries Inc. will occupy the former United Fixtures Shipping Building in Berrien County's Niles Township, about 80 miles south-southwest of Grand Rapids.
WSBT-TV in South Bend, Ind., says Pratt will start moving equipment and machinery into the building over the next two or three months, then begin hiring.
Township Supervisor Jim Kidwell says the jobs will pay $17 per hour and up.
