No injuries were reported after an explosion rocked a Texas refinery on Thursday.

Emergency personnel responded to the Valero plant in Texas City on Thursday, April 19 around 5 p.m. after reports of a fire and explosion. Valero is an independent petroleum refiner.

The company reported that all workers had been accounted for and there were no injuries or fatalities.

"Valero has contacted local authorities and are cooperating with appropriate regulatory agencies and other key stakeholder groups,” the company said in a statement. "At this time, Valero has very little information as to the cause of the fire. Our primary concern is for the safety of our workers."

KHOU11 reported that nearby residents described hearing windows rattle. Students attending after-school activities at area schools were kept indoors until an all clear was given around 5:30 p.m.
