One hundred homes were reportedly evacuated in Beach City, Texas, which is east of Houston, after lightning struck crude oil tankers at a plant and triggered a fire. The Chambers County Sheriff's Office said homes within a half mile radius of the fire have been evacuated as a precaution. A local newsstation reported that the tankers were hit by lightning as storms passed through Houston and other coastal communities early Friday. Firefighters were also setting up sensors to test the air quality as a precaution.
