H-E-B is the latest company to recall chunk light tuna products due to the possibility the product is undercooked and poses a potential health risk.

The latest tuna recall comes on the heels of Bumble Bee Foods, LLC and Tri-Union Seafoods announcing recalls of chunk light tuna. According to a news release published to the FDA website, H-E-B announced it was recalling more than 10,000 cans of Hill Country Fare chunk light tuna.

The FDA news release announcing the H-E-B recall states:

This recall has been initiated because the product, produced at a co-packer, may have been undercooked due to an equipment malfunction, which was uncovered during a routine inspection. These deviations were part of the commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to life-threatening illness if consumed. There have been no reported illnesses to date, H-E-B is issuing this voluntary recall in abundance of caution to ensure the highest level of food safety and quality.

The Hill Country Fare brand 5oz. canned Chunk Light Tuna in Oil was sold at H-E-B Texas stores in single cans between Feb. 24, 2016 and March 16, 2016.

The voluntary recall impacts the following product only:

 UPC code: 0 4122065335 5
 Product lot code 6O9FZ SCEES
Best By date (printed on the bottom of the can) is 2/9/19.
