NEWPORT, Ark. (AP) — Authorities in northeast Arkansas say an employee at a manufacturing plant has died in an industrial accident.

Jackson County Sheriff David Lucas says the accident occurred Tuesday at the Norandal USA plant in Newport. The sheriff says 56-year-old Larry Ball of Floral was pinned between two pieces of machinery after an aluminum rolling mill cradle opened unexpectedly.

Ball was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he later died.

The company tells Jonesboro television station KAIT (https://bit.ly/1lZMg51 ) that it is investigating what caused the accident along with investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The plant makes light gauge foil for use in heating and cooling systems, insulation and flexible packaging.
