WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — A fire has damaged a chemical plant in central Pennsylvania, but officials say the blaze posed no risk to the nearby community.

The Williamsport Sun-Gazette reports the fire broke out Sunday morning at the Lonza Inc. plant in Williamsport. The company says the fire started in a part of the facility that's a non-hazardous manufacturing area.

Officials say employees were working at the time, but that everyone made it out safely. Officials say no hazardous chemicals were involved.

Nearby residents were asked to shelter in place around 6:20 a.m. Sunday, but the order was canceled a half-hour later.
