Meet Gogoro, The Electric Scooter Of Your Dreams

Startup Gogoro is making news after operating in stealth for years. It has revealed an electric scooter for commuters along with an ambitious plan to power the vehicles.

Horace Luke has spent a lot of time working for Microsoft’s Xbox division and smartphone maker HTC building innovative consumer gadgets. But for the past three years, Luke has been busy working on his new invention, the Gogoro, an electric scooter designed for densely populated cities.

What’s interesting about the cloud-connected Gogoro is the 30 sensors on the vehicle that analyzes how each rider drives the scooter to make sure energy use is optimized. The scooter uses lithium-ion batteries that have more than a 60 mile range — similar to gas scooter standards. These batteries are swappable and the company wants to build a battery network to support the scooters.
