Beer drinkers get ready! Thanks to researchers at the National University of Singapore, probiotic beer will soon be a thing. Probiotics are naturally present in some fermented beverages, like kefir. It’s a bit more complicated to pull off with beer because of the highly-concentrated acids present in hops which inhibit bacterial growth. But a team of beer-loving scientists found a modified brewing process with a healthy dose of probiotics. Brewing takes about a month from start to finish, resulting in a sour beer “with sharp and tart flavors.”
