Mobile Workstation Supports One-Piece Flow

The unit can expand from a single unit into multi-station cells, or shift position entirely.

Creform Sized

Creform Corporation (Greer, SC) has designed, built and fully assembled a mobile workstation for a precision instrument manufacturer to support one-piece-flow assembly practices.

A straight-line configuration supports work-flow assembly practices while the configuration and flexibility make it easy to add or remove associates, as manufacturing needs change. The unit can expand from a single unit into multi-station cells, or shift position entirely, as production demands evolve. Specifically:

  • The unit features a plastic work surface as well as the pull-out sliding drawer just below the main work area, both made of HDPE plastic.
  • Above the work surface, three levels of angled HDPE shelving allow ample space for ready-to-use work in process inventory.
  • Materials are replenished from the rear of the structure, so restocking does not interfere with the assembly operator.
  • Mounted on the left side of the main work surface is a PC monitor arm to allow the display of work instructions or product specifications.
  • The unit has seven swivel casters to provide mobility when needed. Four of the casters are total lock-in-place casters installed in the four corners of the structure.
