Creform Corporation (Greer, SC) has designed and built a stair-stepped mobile flow rack to be used by an auto parts supplier in order to integrate into a lineside parts presentation.
The sturdy, scalable, highly flexible and durable stair-stepped flow rack assists first-in, first out (FIFO) inventory management, ensuring that materials are used in the order that they are received and enabling lean manufacturing principles by providing a seamless and organized flow of materials. The flow rack also helps reduce waste and improve overall efficiency in the production process. Specifically:
- The unit features three supply levels and one return level for product presentation.
- Each level has three lanes utilizing Creform’s skate wheel conveyor for product flow.
- Each supply level is stepped back from the front of the rack to increase picking efficiency.
- The offset levels improve inventory visibility, supports faster response time and picking accuracy.
