Regal Releases 3-D CAD Models On Marathon Motors Website

Regal Beloit Corporation, a manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission components, announced it has released 3-D CAD models on a section of the Marathon motors product catalog on its website

BELOIT, WI — Regal Beloit Corporation, a manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission components, announced it has released 3-D CAD models on a section of the Marathon motors product catalog on its website. The models are available in STEP file format, a universal exchange format that can be imported by all 3-D CAD software platforms. This enhancement is consistent with the company’s phased approach to implement new capabilities and features as brand-specific domains move to the new company-wide platform.

The Marathon motors website, launched in June, builds on the previous website design through a more robust product evaluation experience and will continue to evolve to meet the most sought-after features requested by customers.

“Our goal is to create a complete set of solutions for all types of users that ultimately drive them to the broad offering of digital product information at the core of the Marathon motors website. The free access to product details is the number one request of our customers,” said Pat Gasser, manager of engineering services, Regal Beloit America, Inc.

“We also focused heavily on reaching out to our customers to learn about their expected file types and formats. It was critical that our solution meet their needs,” said Natalie Kaufman, IT analyst, Regal Beloit Corporation.

The 3-D CAD models are stored in a product information management (PIM) system. The PIM system allows Regal to publish information to its own website as well as make product information readily available for channel partners to post on their respective websites. While the PIM system is currently only available for Marathon North American motor products, it will expand to other brands as the phased approach progresses.
