Sartorius Stedim Biotech recently launched the BioWelder® Total Containment to permit the sterile connection of liquid-filled thermoplastic tubing that has an outer diameter of up to 1 inch, and that is used on disposable bags or bag assemblies in all biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes. According to the company, the BioWelder further boasts:
- A fully automated sterile welding process that can be performed in non-classified or classified environments.
- Thermal welds to ensure stability.
- Ultra-safe connections.
- The maintenance of product sterility.
- Biological, physical and extractables testing to obtain data representing a variety of process conditions, including critical applications.
