Videojet Technologies Inc. (Wood Dale, Ill.) has announced two new thermal transfer overprinters (TTO) to its DataFlex product line. The Dataflex 6320 and Dataflex 6420 are designed to meet the needs of flexible packaging and labeling applications in the snack foods, bakery, meat and confectionery markets. The 6320 is available in both 32 and 53mm print width formats, and has been designed for low cost of ownership with moderate speed. The high-performance 6420 comes in 53mm and 107mm print widths, and offers a higher throughput on applications requiring a significant amount of content. Both models include a number of additional features to improve uptime and productivity:

  • A clutchless ribbon drive, which is completely software-controlled, requiring no additional devices such as dancer arms, encoders or load cells to control ribbon movement and tension.
  • A high-capacity 1,200 meter ribbon length, which provides 9,000 more prints compared to 1,100 meter lengths. This helps increase uptime by reducing the need to change ribbons during production.
  • Code Assurance, which helps prevent common mistakes, such as codes that are one digit off, dates that don’t exist, codes on wrong products or typing errors.
  • The ability to access all common operations in five touches or less on a large, highly-visible color touchscreen interface.
