Consumer health company Reckitt, which produced brands including Lysol and Mucinex, said it will invest up to $600 million to overhaul and update its U.S. manufacturing and development operations.
The company said the investments will include relocation and integration of its commercial and R&D capabilities into a campus in New Jersey and expanded plans for its largest over-the-counter (OTC) manufacturing facility in North Carolina.
Reckitt said it recently relocated its North American campus in New Jersey to support commercial and operational teams. As the next phase of development, the company will break ground on a new science and innovation center with capabilities in disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care and personal care.
This germ protection hub within Reckitt’s global R&D network will play a role in advancing Reckitt’s portfolio, including Lysol.
Reckitt said it has doubled its initial investment for its OTC manufacturing facility in North Carolina. The site will become its largest OTC manufacturing facility in the U.S. with additional funding supporting expanded production capacity for Mucinex tablets and liquids, as well as increased production volumes for Move Free. The site will open in the first half of 2027. This investment also significantly expands the facility’s physical footprint.
