LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan has OK'd three economic development projects estimated to add 881 jobs and $350 million in investment.
Projects approved Tuesday by the Michigan Strategic Fund include Walker-based automotive supplier Challenge Mfg. Co. expanding into Pontiac. Challenge plans to build a 400,000-square-foot facility and create 450 jobs with help from a $2.5 million state grant.
The Strategic Fund has approved $2.4 million to help Chicago-based dairy company Fairlife construct two bottling lines and add machinery at its Coopersville plant.
The fund also has approved the issuing of bonds to help finance Green Box NA Michigan's plan to process garbage at a new facility in Detroit and transfer it for final processing at a facility in Cheboygan.
Gov. Rick Snyder says the projects' variety shows the diversity of Michigan's economy.
