A global industrial and aerospace manufacturer has announced it will close one of its Ohio facilities.
According to reports, Parker Hannifin Corp will close a factory in Kent, OH. The facility makes polymer products for Parker Hannifin’s water and life sciences markets in addition to some transportation components. The move will affect 52 workers. A company spokesman said all affected employees will be offered a voluntary severance package, along with other assistance.
"The decision was the only viable option to allow the FSC Division of Parker to remain competitive in a challenging global market," a company spokesman said. "The Kent facilities will continue its manufacturing and assembly operation until all product lines are operational in their new location."
The plan is to transfer operations to a recently expanded Lakeview, MI facility by the end of this year.
