A judge in Iowa has ruled that Iowa State University may not release documents containing research information about the meat product disparagingly dubbed 'pink slime.' The judge says releasing the information could damage Beef Products, Inc. (BPI), the company that manufactured it.

A judge in Iowa has ruled that Iowa State University may not release documents containing research information about the meat product disparagingly dubbed 'pink slime.' The judge says releasing the information could damage Beef Products, Inc. (BPI), the company that manufactured it. Food safety attorney Bill Marler believes the data will come out in a defamation suit BPI has filed against two scientists. Marler says,

"Now that the litigation is basically about whether the product is good, bad or indifferent, all that data is fair game. They can't hide anything."
