Michigan State Offers Food Processing Course

Michigan State University says participants can earn their Food and Drug Administration processing and canning certification by completing courses offered March 17-21 at Michigan State's Crop and Soil Science Teaching and Research Center.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State University is offering a certification program next month for people seeking federal approval to engage in food processing and canning.

The East Lansing school says participants can earn their Food and Drug Administration processing and canning certification by completing courses offered March 17-21 at Michigan State's Crop and Soil Science Teaching and Research Center.

Enrollment and information is available online. The school says registration feels will include tuition, a textbook, lunches and refreshments.

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and the Grocery Manufacturers Association Science and Education Foundation are sponsoring the courses.
