Food Distributor Drops Suit Against USDA

Lakeland Fine Foods filed the complaint after the U.S. Department of Agriculture said the company should not be allowed to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A Grand Forks food distributor says it will drop its lawsuit against the federal government over participation in a food stamp program.

Lakeland Fine Foods filed the complaint after the U.S. Department of Agriculture said the company should not be allowed to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

Court documents show that the government agreed to reverse its decision, in exchange for amended federal and state tax returns from Lakeland.

Lakeland Fine Foods specializes in ice cream novelties and desserts. It sells to customers in North Dakota and South Dakota.
