Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are working with money supplied from government grants to develop new dairy farming techniques that reduce greenhouse gas emissions while boosting productivity and profitability at dairies. Erin Fitzgerald, Senior Vice President at the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, says he's optimistic about the possibilities this research might present to dairy farmers. He said,

"We like to say sustainability makes cents — c-e-n-t-s."
