The owner of Post cereals last Thursday announced an agreement designed to bolster its egg business.
Post Holdings will acquire National Pasteurized Eggs for an undisclosed amount and combine NPE within the existing egg operations in its Michael Foods group.
NPE produces shell eggs — including all-natural, cage-free and hard boiled varieties — via a patented commercial-scale pasteurization process at three facilities in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota.
“This transaction continues our effort at building upon Michael Foods’ best-in-class egg foodservice business,” Post President and CEO Rob Vitale said in a statement.
