New Iberia-based Bruce Foods Corp. has sold its Mexican foods business to California-based Teasdale Foods Inc.

NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) — New Iberia-based Bruce Foods Corp. has sold its Mexican foods business to California-based Teasdale Foods Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed in a release Thursday.

The Advocate reports the acquisition includes the Casa Fiesta, Viva Mexico and Mexene brands.

Bruce Foods says it will focus on its retail and food service industry sales of marinades, outdoor cooking appliances, seasonings and sauce mixes, pancake mix and jalepenos, green chilies and other items.

This is Bruce Foods' third major asset sale since 2013, when it sold its canned-vegetable line to McCall Farms in South Carolina. In April, Bruce Foods sold its Original Louisiana Brand Hot Sauce and related assets to Georgia-based Southeastern Mills Inc.

Bruce Foods says it will retain all personnel in New Iberia and El Paso, Texas.
