COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Regulators say southwestern Michigan's Palisades Nuclear Power Plant has had two leaks since shutting down in May to repair a leaking water storage tank.
The Kalamazoo Gazette reports Wednesday the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is investigating at least one of the leaks as well as the May 5 incident that leaked slightly radioactive water into Lake Michigan.
Jack Geissner, a commission branch chief, said Tuesday the most recent leak occurred last Wednesday in a pipe in the service water system. The other in a control room involved a small amount of water from the control room ceiling dripping onto a panel.
Palisades reopened June 17 from its latest shutdown. It's had nine since September 2011.
The plant owned by New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. is in Van Buren County's Covert Township.
