U.S. Zinc Completes Phase 2 Of Zinc Oxide Expansion

Officials with U.S. Zinc has announced the company has completed the planned expansion project of their domestic zinc oxide plant in Millington, Tenn., ahead of schedule.

HOUSTON – Officials with U.S. Zinc has announced the company has completed the planned expansion project of their domestic zinc oxide plant in Millington, Tenn., ahead of schedule. The expansion will increase zinc oxide production by 8,000 metric tons per year and enable the company to better serve customers and provide reliable supply.

The startup of the new Millington furnace marks the completion of the previously announced two-phased zinc oxide plant expansions, which have added more than 17,000 metric tons of zinc oxide production. The company previously completed the first phase of the expansion at their Clarksville, Tenn., plant in early 2014, increasing zinc oxide production by 9,000 metric tons per year.

As in Clarksville, the Millington plant expansion included expanding warehouse space, installing new equipment and adding new employees.

“First and foremost, we want to ensure that we can provide a reliable supply coupled with excellent customer service and logistics for our customers,” said U.S. Zinc’s Commercial Vice President Tracy Baugh. “This expansion continues our commitment to the market to ensure a seamless customer experience.”

“This year, we are celebrating our 65th anniversary. Today, we are the largest supplier of zinc oxide in the world and I believe our long term success has been, and will continue to be, driven by our continued investment in our customers’ ever-changing needs” said U.S. Zinc’s President Rodrigo Daud.  “Our goal is to continue to deliver a wide range of high quality products, expand our ability to provide a global dependable supply, and provide exceptional customer service. As such, we remain committed to future growth and are currently reviewing both domestic and global product projects.”

U.S. Zinc plans to host an open house and tours of the Millington facility in early 2015. Details surrounding this event will be announced at a later date.
