Astellas Pharma Opens HQ In Chicago Suburb

State and business officials are ready to open the relocated and revamped headquarters of Japanese pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma.

GLENVIEW, Ill. (AP) -- State and business officials are ready to open the relocated and revamped headquarters of Japanese pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma.

The company's headquarters for the Americas were in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield, but they've been moved nearby to Glenview.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn and Congressman Bob Dold are expected to attend a Monday morning event at the new headquarters with global CEO Yoshihiko Hatanaka (yo-sheh-HEE'-koh HAH'-tah-nah-kah).

Company officials say the new campus has two six-story buildings. They say the company has added 200 employees in Illinois since 2011.

The Glenview-headquartered company is a U.S. affiliate of Tokyo-based Astellas Pharma Inc.
